The Hooks' Tone Press Banjo Mute

Be a Good Neighbor, Get a Tone Press Mute

The all wood construction (maple with birch screws) won’t damage your banjo. There is nothing clamped to the bridge to get in the way.

It will fit just about any banjo with a dowel or dual coordinator rods (it might also fit single rods but it will NOT fit a Goodtime, I am working on a way to make this work with a spacer).

If you position the mute just behind the bridge near the tailpiece it will increase the sustain. Under the bridge for total muting (this also develops a strong right hand). Near the neck to take the place of stuffing.

The Tone Press Mute will eliminate all excuses for not practicing.

Screw the stuffing!

Get one for every banjo you own!  Only $15, you can't afford not to.

  • Be a Good Neighbor, roommate or spouse.
  • Practice any time anywhere.
  • Develop a strong playing hand.
  • Nothing clamped to the bridge to get in the way.
  • Wood construction will not damage banjo.
  • Move to different positions to vary the tone.
  • Reduce overtones.
  • Increase sustain for sweeter and softer music
  • Looks cool.
